About us

Welcome to WinterMedia. We are a small family run business specializing in media processing (video and stills conversion and editing, audio processing and editing), Internet help (web site and Email hosting, design and even troubleshooting your home network and internet connection) and PC help (teaching, diagnosis of problems, repair of non-specialist problems). We can offer consultation to nail down your actual PC and network requirements, whether for home for for your business.

Please note that most of the "products" on our site show guidance prices only - your requirements are as individual as you are and we quote according to your actual needs. We do not offer "one size fits all" products - we don't want you to pay for more than you need out of a package, or have to pay for those "optional extras", which are in fact not optional for your needs.

What we do

Our skills can be found on the left - your requirements may span several of these; for example you may wish us to take audio tapes (where you hold the copyright), host snippets of them on your website as well as offer them as CD to anyone visitor to your site who wishes to purchase them.

Media Processing

We can digitize your audio and VHS cassettes and camcorder footage, improve the quality in some cases, edit them to your own creative specification and produce them onto CD and DVD. We offer some "no frills" solutions, so if all you want to do is make sure that you don't lose the memories, you won't be paying for extras that you don't need.

Web Applications

A Web Application is a generic term used for a number of new technologies (AJAX, Web 2.0, etc.), but in essence all it means is that a programmer can now make an Internet Browser behave like any other application running on the users computer, for a truely interactive task or function without the user having to install anything. Online shopping check-outs, booking availability, online rota systems, online file-sharing systems, word processing, web page creation using "What you see is what you get" technology, calendars, photo albums... the list goes on!! Why tell you this? If you have a requirement that could be fulfilled by this technology to provide your site visitors with an interactive experience, we can help you bring it to reality.

With our experience in deploying web site applications, we can also advise you on web site (and personal) security, take a look at your web application deployment and perform basic penetration testing. It's vital to protect your own and your customers data within your web site portal, and as many big companies are finding out many home-grown applications are particularly vulnerable to cross-site scripting, javascript and SQL injection attacks.

Home IT advice, maintenance, repair

Just as you would service your car or your heating system, home computers benefit from regular servicing to reduce the risk of sudden failure. At the very least, it's a good idea to perform a regular "spring clean" of your applications and files to ensure that your computer continues to work as fast as your first bought it.
